The Founders Hutton Cafe on Hutton Lane in George Town, Penang has welcomed plenty of diners at its premises since its opening in late 2023. Housed in an Indo-Malay bungalow, the cafe has a casual and cozy atmosphere with both indoor and courtyard seating arrangements.
The Muslim-friendly and pet-friendly space is created with a clever mix of the old and the new. Step through the front door and you enter a spacious space with a bar seating area on the right where you can watch the baristas prepare the drinks, while the cafe’s bakery platform is located on the other side of the space.
The Founders Hutton Cafe currently at their pre-soft opening period is offering varying pork -free menus at different times of the day and they come with fusion Malay, Indian, and Western dishes that are popular with the general public.
For breakfast, one can savor the yogurt bowl, bagels, besides their classic cinnamon rolls which come in flavors of cream cheese, Biscoff, dark chocolate, matcha almond, and pecan salted caramel. The dinner menu offers everything from soup, to mains, pasta, and finger food from 12noon onwards.
Our lunch visit had us tasting the Quesadilla. The tortilla sheets are filled with an exciting combination of fluffy Tomyam scrambled egg, chicken ham, slices of tomato, sriracha aioli, and cheddar cheese. Toppings of grated parmesan, pomegranate, and drizzle of pesto oil brought the dish to a nice finish.
The Carbonara Pasta is cooked with beef bacon, garlic, parsley, and served with topping of raw egg yolk, and a combination of cheeses – parmesan & pecorino.
Followed up is a cup of Long Black and a piece of Pecan Salted Caramel Cinnamon Roll adds a welcome alongside the hot cup of beverage. The cafe serves a variety of coffee and non-coffee drinks, as well as tea and a handful of sparkling mocktails.
