8AM Hainanese Cafe at Kimberley Street, Georgetown, Penang
8AM Hainanese Cafe at Kimberley Street, Georgetown, Penang is a new breakfast and lunch venue offering a menu that blends elements of Hainanese and Thai. This simple, casual little cafe occupies both the ground and upper floor.
As for the menu, the cafe does not have a large one, just two pages featuring dishes nicely curated with freshness and flavor. For those looking for bread, there are several to choose from – butter & kaya toast, polo bun, Thai-style steamed bread, and sandwiches. There is also a special variation called the charcoal toast, served with Thai tea kaya.
For a breakfast dish, definitely go for the Thai Pan Eggs (Khai Krata), prepared with two eggs, minced meat, and two types of sausages. Served piping-hot at the table, this is a wholesome and tasty dish. You will probably want some toast bread to go with it.
The cafe offers a set menu for this Thai Pan Eggs dish, and for an additional RM2, you can treat yourself to a choice of drink (Hainanese Kopi / Thai Milk Tea.).

For customers seeking a fuller meal, do take note of the Thai Chicken Rice, and the Kolo Mee. The later at RM9.90 has dried noodles with fresh pork lard oil and toppings of minced meat, soft boiled egg and fishballs. Mixing everything together with the accompanying chili sauce can be quite enjoyable.
