Looking for an interesting spot to gather to buka puasa over a Ramadan buffet dinner in Penang? Look no further than at The Tamarra By Irama Dining located at Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah in Georgetown.

The Malay fine dining restaurant and event space (beside Menara KWPS) starts off the Ramadan with its Senandung Rasa By The Sea Buffet Dinner.

The Tamarra By Irama Dining offers the Senandung Rasa By The Sea Buffet Dinner starting from 27th March till 20th April 2023 (7pm till 10pm). The buffet dinner is priced at RM75 nett for children, RM138 nett per adult and senior citizen at RM118 nett.

Our visit had us enjoying an extensive spread of over 100 savory and sweet Malay delicacies from both the buffet line and action stalls. There is an incredibly wide range of kerabu, serunding with ketupat, and ulam-ulaman with sambal. Among the sambals, the Sambal Hitam is an instant favorite.

The buffet also offers specialties herbed rice such as Nasi Briyani Kambing made up of fragrant long-grain rice cooked with tender mutton, and aromatic spices.

Another tantalizing herbed rice is the Nasi Kerabu Udang Lagenda with Lada Solok (stuffed green chillies). The accompanying giant freshwater prawns for the nasi kerabu were huge, and together with refreshing herbs and vegetables, salted egg, stuffed green chillies, and blue-coloured rice makes for a combination that is definitely worth checking out.

Along with the two herbed rice would be the Kambing Golek, and mains such as Ketam Gulai Nenas Tok Ma, Itik Salai Masak Lemak Cili Api, Udang Bawang Masala Ubi, and Ayam Goreng Rempah.

For desserts, it includes a colorful composition of Malay kuih-muih with Western cakes, fresh fruits, and warm sweet bubur. From the action stations, there is an offering of cold shaved ice desserts of Ais Kacang and Cendol. The latter with cooked red beans, and green strips of cendol in fresh coconut milk flavored with palm sugar appeal to many with its novelty topping of the pungent durian fruit.

The dining areas are spread across two spaces; the “air-conditioned indoor dining hall” is right after the entrance, and marquee tent set up in the spacious beachfront garden with mature trees.
