Rockafellers Straits Quay at Tanjung Tokong, Penang

Make a meal at Rockafellers Straits Quay which offers Indian cuisine and a selection of Western and local food to go with wine, beer, and mocktails. Tucked at Straits Quay in Tanjung Tokong, Penang, the pet friendly pub with plenty of outdoor seating allows customers to bring along their well-behaved pets.

The menu is large and during our dinner visit, we enjoyed a meal of Indian dishes prepared with blend of spices and herbs – cumin, cardamon, star anise, bay leaf, red chilies, peppercorns, and more.

Platters are perfect dishes for sharing and the Bread Platter is one for bread lovers. The platter has a combination of garlic naan, peshwari naan, stuffed kulcha, and mint paratha, all made with changes to the flour. The portion for this platter (RM28) is more than sufficient for four persons.

As we wanted a creamy sauce to go with the warm bread, we opted for the Palak Paneer. An all-time favorite, this dish priced at RM36 has the presence of simple ingredients – cottage cheese, spinach, and cumin seed.

An extensive range of wine, mocktails and cocktails is available to complement the meal. There is a special deal on the red and white wine, and we had two glasses going for RM40 (starting from 3pm till 8pm).

There are a few Signature Platters and one that caught our eyes is the Kebab & Tikka Platter. Priced at RM82, the platter comes piled with a variety of meat and fish done with a little heat. The lamb and vegetable seekh kebab, and the chicken & fish tikka are delicious eaten with the accompanying mint chutney & raita.

For a carbo dish, nothing tastes better than a serving of briyani rice. The Rockafellers Chicken Briyani is a one-pot wonder with aromatic basmati rice cooked with chicken. Priced at RM42, it is satisfying enough to be a meal on its own.

For a different take on the briyani rice, try those prepared with prawn, vegetable or lamb with a kick of meaty goodness.
