Bubur Kacang – Indian-style sweet dessert

BY CK Lam

Kambli’s Bubur Corner is one of the few Indian-style sweet dessert stalls in Penang. Tucked away on Jalan Datuk Koyah, off Penang Road, the stall offers several choices to suit different taste buds.

Customers will be able to enjoy bubur kacang hijau (mung bean porridge), bubur gandum (wheat porridge) and bubur pulut hitam (black glutinous rice porridge).

Bubur kacang hijau is sold on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. On the other hand, the bubur pulut hitam is available only on Wednesdays and the bubur gandum on Fridays.

The kacang hijau is a hot favorite at Kambli’s. The kacang hijau is boiled till soft with coconut milk and white and palm sugar. Nothing beats adding in pulut (glutinous rice) for more texture.
