The E & O Hotel in Penang is all set to take patrons on a gastronomic festive journey for 2023 Christmas to 2024 New Year. To celebrate the festivals, E & O Hotel is sweetening the season with a spread of festive menus.
Diners can indulge in a sumptuous feast of land and sea with essence of Christmas from the buffet lunch, buffet dinner and afternoon teas which will be rolled out at the Sarkies, Java Tree, Planters Lounge, Palm Court, and Farquhar’s Bar.
At a Christmas gathering, we had our taste buds freshened up with healthy salad and surf salad dishes. Interesting ones include the Marinated Octopus and Unagi along with the Pear Salad with Blue Cheese and Walnut.

From the Cold Cuts, we enjoyed the selection of Chicken Galantine with Apricot Chutney, Seafood Terrines with Remoulade, Salmon Gravlax Platter, Shaving of Beef with Vegetable Pickles and Grain Mustard & Honey Sauce.

Then there is the chilled poached crustaceans with seafood choices such as Marinated Oysters, Spanner Crab, Slipper Lobster, Crayfish, Scallops, Prawns, Green Mussels, and Black Mussels. Pair these with Lemon Wedges, Cocktail Sauce, Tabasco and Tartar Sauce.

For festive roasts, choose from traditional favorites like the quintessential Roasted Whole Turkey with Giblet Gravy and Cranberry Sauce, Oven Baked Marinated Rib Eye Beef with Ranch Sauce, Roasted Boneless Lamb Leg with Cucumber and Green Apple Raita, and Chicken Roulade with Pineapple Chutney served with Chestnut Stuffing, Brussel Sprout, and Mashed Potato.

To conclude the feast, immerse in the richness of desserts. The pastry team prepared a range of goodies which include Ginger Crème Brûlée, Christmas Fruit Cake, Walnut Brownies, Vanilla Mango Panna Cotta, and Strawberry Bavarois. Other offerings include Pistachio Opera, Mont Blanc, Yule Log, Mini Lemon Tart, Panettone, Stollen, Mincemeat Pie, Macaron Tower, Berries Pavlova, and Christmas Pudding with Vanilla Sauce.
We particularly like the velvety texture of the bavarois, richness of the fruit cake, and daintiness of the colorful macaron. 
For those looking for festive takeaway to treat your family and friends, hop over to the Gingerbread House, located on the Lobby Level, Victory Annexe (infront of the Emporium gift shop).
The Gingerbread House offers plenty of sweet baked goodies such as the customary Christmas Stollen, Fruit Cake, Black Forest Log Cake and festive cookies.
