Wine Tasting Fair at Gurney Walk, Gurney Drive, Penang
Plenitude Bhd’s Gurney Walk, a lifestyle mall nestled in an upscale development of Ascott Hotel, and Menara Gurney office on the ever-bustling Gurney Drive, Penang, had recently held a wine tasting fair on the 24th & 25th June 2023. The fair had gave participating vendors, wine buffs and beginners alike the opportunity to explore a plethora of wine.
The two-days fair held in the air-conditioned environment was well received, with visitors treated to lucky draw prizes and tastes from a selection of crisp, refreshing whites to deep-flavoured reds from the participating vendors.
Right near the entrance is the booth by Wine Plug, a wine supplier based in Malaysia that focuses on French and Australia distribution. Visitors were intrigued by the vast variety of wines from Chateau Cantin and Chateau Los Boldos, on top of the award-winning Finland’s Arctic Blue Gin and its new variants.

San, a restaurant by The Three Wines offered a wide range of wines from Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and organic wines from Australia. Visitors were captivated by the wine tasting session, sampling 10 types of wine for just RM30. Mr. Willy Lim, the owner of San conducted the wine tasting session hands-on.
Being more than just wine-tasting, San By The Three Wines also held a Beginner Wine Classes and Master Classes with Spanish wines from Vina Zorzal, and Bulgarian wines from Fort Burgozone.

Another exciting vendor is undoubtedly CUEVA, a pork-free Spanish tapas bar and restaurant which has successfully brought bites of tapas paired with wines to the fair. The list of eye-catching wines includes bottles from Bremerton Matilda Plains, La La Land, and Roberts Estate.
Right beside CUEVA, is the booth by Chefutensile & Archero Sdn Bhd. The appealing display of Riedel wine glasses, wobble whisky glasses and decanters certainly kept shoppers distracted. General Executive Manager, Ms. Jacqline Lim was hands-on, diligently explained and shared the beauty of the wine and tabletop products with the visitors.

Mercure Penang Beach Hotel, owned by Plenitude Group offered free tasting of their Spanish wines from Consigna, and Australian wines from Wombat Hill along with light bites of nuts and dried fruits.
This progressive fair was filled with inspirational content, as it featured distilled alcoholic drinks, and wines from all over the world alongside networking opportunities for all participants.
I look forward to the next edition of this wine fair, in order to learn more of the wines as well as exciting emerging wine territories from across the world.
