G Hotel Gurney’s Tree Bar with its prime location in Central Gurney Penang has charmed the drinking crowd with its range of swanky sips and draft beers to go along with a selection of savory bites since 2014.
Nestled under the majestic 100-year-old Angsana tree, the bar connecting to the alfresco dining spot of Gurney Plaza shopping destination is a suitable locale to entertain corporate clients and spending time with friends.
Recently, the bar has embarked on an exciting renovation journey. Re-opened after a four-month closure, the bar heralded its opening with a fun party attended by business associates and invited guests.
The bar in an enlivening al-fresco environment is enhanced with an inviting ambiance with the tree’s comforting shade. With the new eye-catching Tree Bar logo, the bar is expanded with additional tables and chairs on new flooring, besides new fencing where you can relax with added privacy.
The bar is also enhanced with new television screens, allowing sports enthusiasts to watch favorite sporty events over a cool beer. There are also live performances which are scheduled weekly.
The drink menu celebrates a list of cocktails, wine, and draft beers. Beer lovers will be in a happy mood with its wide selection. The highlight is the on-going promotions, offering 10 Glasses of Beer from only RM140 nett. The selection of beers include Blanc, Asahi, Connor’s Stout as well as Calsberg.
As for the Craft Beer promotion, guests can enjoy choices like the Lost Lager, Old Engine Oil, Dead Pony Club, and Punk IPA, with prices starting from RM38 nett.
A group of us had the pleasure to try out the beers paired with savory bites of Gambas Rojas al Ajillo (tiger prawns & toasted bread), Wagyu Beef Slider (homemade wagyu patties & coleslaw), Trio Fries, Moroccan Lamb Meatballs, and Fried Cauliflower with Indian spiced sauces. Also not forgetting the signature Tree Bar Wings Basket (chicken wings with crispy coating & hint of spiciness).

Director of Communications Christina Tan explains, “Tree Bar has always been noted for its pizzas and is making a comeback with new flavors like The Tandoori Pizza, Beef Rendang Pizza, Seafood Pizza, and the Mushroom Formaggi Pizza.” The latter is a combination of three types of mushrooms, with mozzarella, ricotta, and touch of truffle oil.

Bars within the city are many, but a bar centered around a 100 year old Angsana tree is unique and rare. The Tree Bar is the one such place. With a great choices of beers, refreshing drinks list, mouth-watering bites, music, and great people watching, Tree Bar makes a perfect social hub for a get-together.
The staffs are opening the doors for business from 2pm till 12 midnight from Mondays to Thursdays and till 1am on Fridays. Saturdays will start off earlier at 12 noon till 1am while Sundays and public holidays will be from 12noon till 12 midnight.
