Down at Hamilton Walk in Jelutong, Penang is Flagship By Navy, an industrial-themed cafe-bar. Located beside Heng Yee Secondary School, the outlet which was once the Penang Textile & Imperial Garments factory has been transformed into a trendy spot with pockets of space for lounging and dining.
The natural light floods the space, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for our leisurely brunch outing,

Scan the menu and find an arrangement of soup, salad, Japanese rice bowl, gourmet burgers, hearty pasta dishes, and desserts. We started with the soup and a favorite is the Clam in Wine, a pretty delicious comfort soup cooked with fresh clams, besides onions, garlic, tomatoes, and white wine.

Nothing goes better with the bowl of soup than a sharing snack of Unagi Fries. Brought to the table in mini bucket, the crunchy beer batter unagi fries with seaweed powder taste much better with a dip in the creamy sauce.

From the brunch section we chose two dishes – Norwegian and the Moroccan. The Norwegian is a dish of toasted bagel topped with smoked salmon, poached egg, and creamy Hollandaise sauce. They also slid in some asparagus. This is a lovely combination of saltiness and creaminess.

The Moroccan is a dish right out of the hot oven, bake with chopped tomato, red pepper, smoked sausage, tomato sauce, spices, and eggs. The eggs are scrambled into the tomato mixture and are completely cooked. Accompanying the dish is a helping of citrus green salad and slices of sourdough.

For a sweet bite, do check out their desserts which consisted of eclairs, and tarts. However, if you are in the mood for something cold with coffee, there is the Tropical Affogato which has pandan coconut ice-cream served with ristretto.
As for beverages, the menu features much more than just specialty coffees and teas. It includes a variety of cocktails, wine, craft beer, and kefir soda.

With its tempting menu, and ample car park spaces at the rear of the building, Flagship By Navy is definitely worth a visit. Open daily, the cafe-bar welcomes visitors starting from 11am till 11pm except for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday whereby the closing time is extended to 12 midnight.
