For those making time to catch-up for a coffee break in George Town, Penang, A Bijou Coffee & Eatery is a tiny and cosy choice. Situated on the narrow Jalan Dinding, right off the bustling Transfer Road, this hidden cafe easily catches your attention with its striking Indigo-color.
Run by a friendly and welcoming couple, the space is rather small. Walk through the glass door and there is the coffee bar, two dining tables, and a long tabletop set up against the huge glass panel by the entrance.
From the menu, expect a variety of drinks (black, white, non-coffee, tea, mixology mocktails), and homemade cakes. For coffee, the cafe carries the medium-dark roasted blend and has several origins to cater to the palate of drinkers.

The specialty Black Sesame Latte done with a combination of aromatic black sesame, fresh milk, and espresso is served cold. According to the owner, only a moderate amount of this latte is available daily. With tastebuds evolving, this creamy, and nutty beverage will be a popular item very soon.

The cafe prides itself on serving customers homemade pound cake for desserts – a classic example of enriched butter cake that has been a staple for many cake lovers. The pound cake is dense, not too sweet, and served either plain, lightly glazed, or sometimes with a coat of icing. Tempting choices are the lemon pistachio, chocolate almond, and Earl Grey.
