The Pinn Cafe at Gat Lebuh Melayu, George Town, Penang
For those into Taiwanese-style dining, an interesting option is at The Pinn 老品, a popular cafe on Gat Lebuh Melayu in George Town, Penang. The air-conditioned outlet with its double-storey pre-war structure has three tables on the ground floor and several more tucked away on the first floor.
The outlet is fully focused on well-cooked quality food made from fresh ingredients. The menu is displayed at the entrance and offers specialty choices of homemade fishballs and dumplings along with noodles and rice dishes.
One can have the signature Fishball Soup. For a fuller option, sample the fishballs with a choice of noodles; choose from either the glass noodle tanghoon, koay teow or maggi mee. Made fresh daily in a traditional way with an added bit of salt and pepper, the fishball has pure fish flavor and slightly bouncy “qq” texture.
