Icon City in Bukit Mertajam is a foodie’s paradise!
Tucked away in Icon City, Bukit Mertajam, the restaurant BBQ BAR 串越时光 Penang has been acknowledged for its barbecue experience in an igloo-themed bar. The air-conditioned outlet is surprisingly different by appearance and deco, but its menu has everything to do with barbecue.
At this low-lit space, barbecuing of the meat is done in an automatic-rotating barbecue grill installed on the table using charcoal fire and backed by friendly service. There are three kinds of homemade sauces to give the food a dose of spiciness. You need to try them all to see which suits you.
Seasoning is taken seriously with bottles of herbs and spices neatly displayed on the table. On and off, you can see the staffs helping in the cooking process – finishing with sprinkles of herbs and spices in creating delicious food.
Diners can choose a variety of barbecue seafood, meat, and vegetables from the self-tick menu. From the main, it’s all about quality meat – New Zealand lamb stick, pork belly, and Australia beef ribeye. The meat done with intense smoke flavor along with dashes of herbs and spices are really promising. One can easily develop a love affair with these meat.
The New Zealand lamb is at a premium cost of RM4 a skewer! You can get by half a dozen at RM22 or a dozen at RM40.

If meat isn’t your choice, try the seafood. The seafood offerings are black pearl oyster, scallop with glass noodles, sambal siham, and tomyam sotong but the oysters and scallops with firm flesh and delicate taste are much more appreciated.
Aside from the seafood and meat, there is also the chicken wings which come in two ways: non-spicy and super spicy. For the latter, each bite is extremely fiery.

The food is delicious eaten with sides of enoki mushrooms, sweet corn, lady finger or brinjal. If you’ve got a big appetite, you will want to get an order of noodle or rice besides man tou.
The best way to enjoy the food is with cold drinks. Ice fruit juices, cold beer, herbal tea, and soft drinks are some of the offerings. And if you wish to end the meal with something sweet, there is the dark chocolate pot, and ice cream.

Smokeless bbq, wide menu, cool air-conditoned, igloo feel with fun décor, makes BBQ BAR 串越时光 Penang a pleasant place to visit for a bbq meal. About the food, most of what we ordered was pretty good, and about the pricing, it is on a higher price level. 
BBQ BAR 串越时光 Penang opens everyday for barbecue and steamboat dinner only. You are encouraged to make reservations, and there is a two hour limit to a table.
