Selamat Berbuka Puasa at Hotel Equatorial Penang
From now till 17th July 2015, Hotel Equatorial Penang marks the iconic celebrations of Ramadan and Hari Raya with buffets at its restaurant, Nada Lama.
The space formerly known as Coffee Garden has been renovated and reopened last October with bright and welcoming decor. The inside is huge with much seating space which can accommodate up to 200 guests.
Be swept away by many local classic delights alongside parades of appetizers, hot dishes and sweet desserts at the Ramadan buffet.
Start off with lighter fare of ulam, acar, serunding, ketupat, and kerabu of many kinds that promises to bring up your appetite. Besides, there are five different types of keropok (crackers) to munch on.
At the al fresco area are several action stalls serving deep-fried Japanese tempura, Mongolian BBQ, dim sum, and kibas panggang – a wholesome dish of nasi Arab with condiments.

There is also a grill station featuring sizzling items like satay, beef steak and sausages. Nearby is a Thai food stall serving somtam (papaya salad), tomyam seafood, green curry chicken, yellow curry duck breast and Thai fish cake.
There are also indoor stalls offering everything savory from murtabak, ikan bakar, noodle soup to sweet deep-fried snacks of sweet potatoes and banana.
When it comes to hot specialities, there are offerings like chicken with Szechuan bean sauce, Harissa garden vegetable, ayam masak lemak, lamb leg with rosemary sauce, sweet and sour fish fillet, lamb tagine, braised mustard heart with garlic, and beef goulash.

The nasi kukus counter offers options of nasi lemak and nasi kerabu complemented by ayam percik Kelantan, daging rendang, udang sambal petai and gulai ikan tongkol, ikan masin and many condiments. The choices of dishes are well thought-out.
The sweet things of Ramadan had diners hankering for more. There is everything from cakes, Malay kuih muih, ais kacang, ice cream, seasonal fresh fruits to refreshing beverages of nutmeg, sugar cane, syrup bandung, soya milk, and warm teh tarik.
Assorted cookie jars are displayed on the counter, filled with traditional delicacies of the festival, such as kuih bahulu, batang buruk, kuih kapit. and rempeyek topped with kacang (roasted peanuts).

The Berbuka Puasa Buffet available daily from 6.30pm till 10pm is priced at RM120nett for adults and RM60nett for children.
Marketing Communication manager Debra Gerardine Jayesuria said six diners can look forward to win a China Airlines return flight ticket to Taipei in a separate lucky draws.
