Developer PE Land Sdn Bhd unveiling of Design Village Penang was held at the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (also known as the Blue Mansion) in George Town, Penang on 23rd April 2015.
Design Village Penang with a total area of 40 acres comprises a premium retail shopping outlet and hotel to be built in Bandar Cassia, Batu Kawan, on the mainland side of Penang state. Within the area is a planned residential enclave with serviced apartments and condominiums.
Target to open by the end of 2016, the single-storey mall will have 150 shops (about 1,800 sq ft each), for premium shopping in a natural park setting on 28 acres of land. The whole project is accessible via the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge (Penang Second Bridge), and the north south highway.
The evening started off with light cocktails for guests at the gardens of the mansion, with the accompaniment of Chinese classical music.
The event was followed with speeches from Blue Mansion Mrs Loh–Lim Lin Lee, George Town Festival director Joe Sidek, president of the Institute of Marketing Architecture Seiichi Mizuno, senior advisor to PE Land Penang Richard Hsu and Savills Malaysia managing director Allan Soo.
