Chen Hong – Penang Food Ambassador for Taiwan

I had time to catch up with Taiwanese personality and celebrity Chef Chen Hong (陳鴻) during his recent trip to Penang, the island of delicious food. Popularly known as “Ah Hong”, he is now Penang Food Ambassador for Taiwan, since he was appointed by Penang State EXCO for Tourism Development and Culture, YB Danny Law Heng Kiang.

The meeting place was at Golden Thai Seafood Village, a seafood restaurant located in Batu Ferringhi. Chen Hong shared his knowledge and passion for food in a fun and humorous way. It was a great happy hour, getting to know more of the eye-catching celebrity.

Dubbed the culinary prince in Taiwan, the exhilarating and easy-going chef has been faithfully in the kitchen since he was seven. His impressive cooking skills coupled with an amazing personality gave him the opportunity to strike out as a chef on television. He is also an ambassador for several well-known brands and host of countless cooking programmes throughout Asia, showcasing his unique fusion style.

The trip to Penang was organized by food and lifestyle magazine, Food Digest. It had Chen Hong and his crew traveling around the streets of Penang, doing series of shooting activities including cooking demonstration, tasting and recommending hawkers and restaurants food outlets. He was also searching for local ingredients for his brand new cookbook.

He samples many good eats. Some of the places that he visited are in George Town, Pulau Tikus, Gurney Drive and Batu Ferringhi.
