Jamuan Teh Malaysia (Malaysia Tea Party) Kuala Lumpur
I was in Kuala Lumpur recently to attend the launching of the inaugural fund raising event “JAMUAN TEH MALAYSIA” (Malaysia Tea Party) in the elegant ballroom of Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur. The event was modeled after the Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, held annually by the Australian Cancer Council.
Initiated by the Australian High Commission and MANZA (Malaysia Australian New Zealand Association) and organized by the BCWA (Breast Cancer Welfare Association) and NCSM (National Cancer Society Malaysia), the event featured a Fashion Show by our local outstanding designer, Carven Ong. Many gather for the event which was graced by Her Excellency Ms Penny Williams, Australia High Commissioner to Malaysia.
It was a delicious morning tea with a fashion show. There were serving of canapés, scones, fruit tartlet, assorted cakes, sandwiches, fresh fruits and coffee plus tea throughout the whole function. I even enjoyed supping on cups of coffee and nibbling delicate sandwiches and cakes.
Delectable cakes and mousse that could be eaten in one mouthful.
Among the official sponsors for the event were Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur, Diva PRODUCTION, Rafflesia – The Pearl Centre, CENTRO and Boh Tea sponsoring all the tea.

A beautiful gown donated by Carven Ong was auctioned at the end of the fashion show. All the funds and donations raised during the event went to BCWA (Breast Cancer Welfare Association) and NCSM (National Cancer Society Malaysia) for the continuation of their wonderful work within the community in the fight against cancer in Malaysia.

The event continued and we were treated with delightful finger food, tartlets and scones.

There was also a Book Signing Ceremony by the the well known Chef Wan. His recipe book was available on that day at a discount of 30%. The sale proceeds of his book went to charity!
Down-to-earth and friendly Chef Wan with myself!
The main event for the night was the auction of one of the creations of Carven Ong, which all proceeds went to charity! The pink exquisite dress (right bottom) was a stunner and looked elegant.

It was a very fulfilling event for me personally as I’ve gained more awareness about breast cancer, and the charity work done by the National Cancer Society Malaysia.
I had the privilege to attend this event held on Thursday the 13th of August 2009, and I would like to express my thanks to Ken Chin from Carven Ong Couture for extending the exclusive invitation to me.
