Melbourne Food – Lygon Street

Lygon Street in Carlton, Melbourne, is the one charming place where one can find many Italian restaurants. Walk through the street and you be greeted by many sign boards offering Italian cuisine.  Many of them have outdoor terraces with tables and chairs set on the walkway.

We visited several outlets located on this street and there is always something different to taste. Each outlet exude a warm welcome with offerings of pasta, pizza, risotto dishes, delicious cakes, and wines.

Lunch at Threshermans Bakehouse…

Teatime at Cafe Notturno – Italian Apricot Cake with ice-cream and Dilmah Tea.

Dinner at Cafe Trevi – calzones, woodfired pizzas and many types of pasta.

Brunetti. www.brunetti.com.au/  has a fine repertoire of cakes. This lovely place is popular all day with visitors coming in for meals, snacks, cakes and coffee.

Dinner at Papa Gino’s is very relaxing. Outdoor dining at this Italian restaurant can be cold at times but they do provide overhead heaters for guests. We shared a variety of main dishes. The food here is memorable…. and value for money.
