Juicy bites at Pinang Restaurant and Bar

It was a relaxing afternoon with juicy bites during my visit to the Pinang Restaurant and Bar in Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa. This cool al fresco dinning place near the Garden Wing pool recently reveals its signature gourmet burgers and I had the chance to sample some them.

Price starts from RM32 with lamb, chicken and beef on the menu. Each burger with toasted seeded bun, flavorsome sauce, delicious accompaniments and fries delivered a different taste-bud sensation.

For those who prefer lamb, do go for the lamb and cumin burger (RM38). The burger is served with onion marmalade, arugula and an abundance of potato curls on the side. The juicy tender meat has great flavor and a balance hint of cumin. The onion marmalade is lovely but on the sweeter side.

The other burger that caught my eye is the fried chicken burger priced at RM36. Sautéed mushroom, mayonnaise and caramelized onions complement the burger with a thick piece of deep-fried boneless chicken. The burger goes perfectly well with crinkle cut potatoes.

There are three renditions of beef burger – Mexican beef burger, double beef burger and the GigaBite Burger. The Mexican beef burger comes with an exciting pairing of green chili, smooth guacamole, lettuce, onions and tomatoes. This is a great choice for those craving for the cool flavors and creaminess of avocado and the slight heat of green chilies. The burger accompanied with spicy potato wedges and crispy onion rings is priced at RM38.

The double beef burger (RM49) smothered with hickory smoked BBQ sauce has two patties, two melted slices of cheese, sautéed mushroom and beef rashers which added nice beefy flavor. This burger is served with crinkle cut potatoes. This burger looks great on the plate and taste good on the first bite.

My visit was too short to try the Rasa GigaBite burger (RM98). This huge burger with medley of ingredients is not for the lightweights.

The burger come piled high with thick grilled meat patties (21 cm in diameter and weigh 880 grammes) along with generous layers of beef bacon slices. There are a number of vegetables in the burger, with button mushrooms, white onions, juicy tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, pickled gherkin, onion ring, cheese slices and three eggs. I am looking forward to sharing this burger with some friends on my next visit.

Diners who want extra fries, can order from the four selection of fries with choices of topping at RM20. Selection includes straight cut, curls, crinkle cut and spiced wedges. The range of toppings can be melted Mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese and beef rasher strips, chili con carne and melted cheddar cheese or the hummus dip.

The burgers are available from 10am till 10pm daily.
